Induction Ready Cookware For cookware to be induction cookware it simply needs to be ferrous. This means it must be made from iron or some other metal that supports a magnetic field. This being the case there are a few cookware types that are not made specifically for an induction stove but will work with one. If you simply use cast iron or stainless steel cookware on your inductioncooktop then there should be no problem using either type on a gas or electric stove.

There are some cookware that are made specifically to work with an induction cooktop. This cookware is usually constructed of a metal that isn’t ferrous that is coated with a metal that is ferrous. If you are unsure about your cookware the best possible way to find out is to consult your owners manual.
